What is a Christian Life Coach? How does this differ from other life coaches?

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching” Hebrews 10:24-25

A Christian Coach’s worldview is formed and built on the foundation of the Bible and relationship with Jesus Christ. This style is different than how some might see spiritual formation in terms of new age or worldly spiritual terminology. A style is developed by each Christian coach based on their individual journeys. It is based on their understanding of the Bible. This is also formed by life experiences and how the Holy Spirit has moved in our life.

My belief is that this world is not the foundation of my view or way that I make decision, but I look toward the Kingdom of God as my desired foundation for my decisions. This is fundamentally what is the bedrock to my spiritual formation coaching style.

Spiritual Formation Coaching is guiding someone to seek the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction. This is a process of revealing, healing and restoration. There is no timeline and each journey are individual. This is a type of coaching that requires a relationship element with God, community and each other. This is a type of coaching that you journey beside the person as they wrestle with God on specific areas or situations in their lives and you encourage them to see where God is present in these spaces. This is different from other coaching as it is more personal. It is not just walking through the act of Discipleship and forming action steps to find solutions. It is being a guide to discovery through the Holy Spirit. It is important to be in active growing relationship with the Holy Spirit.
